Florence since the beginning of her career has established herself as the artist who pays attention not only to the music, but also to the entire luminaire representing her album. Lungs and Ceremonials are recordings which are the perfect combination of sound and visualisation. Album covers, booklets, music videos- all of these was created with the support of talented people working with Flo, helping her to realize her own visions. Tom Beard and Tabitha Denholm certainly represent this group of people. After the recent instagram reports we suppose that Tom and Tabitha once again will take care of art direction- this time at work on Machine’s third album. This led us to bring you closer to Flo’s cooperation with this two.
Tom and Tabitha both belong to a leading producer of award-winning music videos, commercials, films, animation, and pioneering interactive media, with a worldwide reputation- Partizan. Artists they have worked with include Bjork, Beyonce, Daft Punk, U2, Jay-Z, White Stripes, Kanye West, Katy Perry, Chemical Brothers, Madonna, Kings of Leon, Lily Allen, MGMT, The Rolling Stones and David Guetta.
Flo has known Tom since they were children. They attended the same school and university Camberwell Art College and now they are very good friends. What about Tabitha- she met her thanks to Mairead (both formed indie/disco duo Queens of Noise). At the beginning of Florence’s career Tom and Tabitha took care of the artistic side of Florence and The Machine project. First music video for ‘Dog Days Are Over’ came out just from their hands, afterwards ‘Rabbit Heart’ and ‘You’ve got the love’. Tom is also the author of the Lungs cover and whole photoshoot contained in the booklet. CLICK
In 2011 Tabitha created a series of videos which reported Florence and The Machine stay in U.S.
Ceremonials brought further cooperation with Tom and Tabitha- once again they took up art direction on the album:
Tabitha has also directed the video for Never Let Me Go:
Now, many signs pointing to the fact that we can count on their further collaboration at work on the third album.
In September 2013 Mairead shared a photo of Tom photographing Flo on the Porto Marina Beach and in August 2014 we were able to see previously unseen picture of Flo taken in April, which now is available on the official website of the artist.
Last instagram reports say that Flo, Tabitha and Tom spend together their time in Mexico. The presence of these two, as well as choreographer Ryan Heffington can only mean one thing! We can’t wait for the final result! One thing is sure- it will be brilliant!
UPDATE (15-01-15)
Vincent Haycock (director known for shooting Lover To Lover videoclip) joins the dream team! Needless to say, our expectations are pretty high, as Flo accompanied by an amazing photographer Tom Beard, two directors Tabitha Denholm and Vincent Haycock and a choreographer Ryan Heffington, doing something together in surroundings of beautiful caves in Mexico, sound promising!
