And I have to tell you something…

August is here, and so it’s time for the usual announcement! Florence’s birthday’s approaching quickly and we would love you all to join us for a little birthday project! Florence has always stressed the great personal and creative value of her notebooks – filled with bits and pieces of poetry, lyrics, thoughts, sketches, drawings and scribbles of all kinds, they are always the starting point of her creative process.

This has never been more evident – High As Hope feels more personal and poetic than any of the records before. Simultaneously, Florence’s first book – Useless Magic – invites us to take a journey through hundreds of pages written over the last decade.

‘And I have to tell you something’ is a project inspired by all that – it is based on all those words, notes, messages to ourselves that we write down like spells and keep safe both in the notebooks and deep in our hearts, never to be seen or discovered by anyone. This time we’re asking you to dig some of them out, and to share them. It can be anything – from drawings and sketches to your own lyrics and poetry – any mark that you have ever left on paper. This is an opportunity to share your thoughts, feelings, fears and joys with people who most probably feel the same way, and to create one wonderful collective scrapbook. We will the gather and prepare your entries to be shared online on a specially created Instagram account on Florence’s birthday.

Rules:

• A photo (or a scan) in ‘Instagram’ square format  – sent to [email protected]. Please include ‘Florence’s Birthday 2018’ in the subject.
• Your drawings/scribbles have to be handdrawn, looking like a page from a diary/notebook
• Please include only a page with your scribbles in the photo (nothing more like pen, desk etc,)
• Remember that the message shouldn’t be too long!
• Deadline: 19.08.2018
• The pictures will be posted online on a specially created Instagram account – by taking part in our project you’re giving us rights to publish your work
• As an organiser of the project we reserve the right to select/refuse the artworks to be published
